VA Aid and Attendance Program Overview

Overview: The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Aid and Attendance (A&A) program is a specialized benefit designed to assist eligible veterans, and their surviving spouses, in covering the costs associated with personal care services, including home health care. This program is particularly important for veterans who require assistance with daily living activities and prefer to receive care at home rather than move into a nursing facility. The Aid and Attendance benefit is an enhancement to the VA pension. It provides additional monthly payments to qualified veterans or surviving spouses who need help with routine activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, mobility, and medication management. More details about the program and its requirements can be found on the US Department of Veterans Affairs site located here.

Application Process: Veterans must apply for Aid and Attendance benefits through the VA by submitting the appropriate forms and medical evidence. Global Care Veterans Services can help Veterans and their families with the application process. Processing times can vary, so early application is encouraged.

How We Can Help: Global Care Veterans Services has been helping Massachusetts Veterans through the Aid and Attendance program applications process at no cost since 2016. We help determine eligibility, guide them through the process of gathering the required documentation and if anything is missing we can help get them. Finally, we review and proofread the application to make sure all of the requirements are met and all the forms are filled out correctly. If anything is incorrect or out of place, that can be grounds for rejection by the VA so attention to detail is important. After the application is submitted, we monitor the status and will respond to any additional information or clarifications as needed by the VA. Regular status updates will be sent to the veteran until a determination has been made. For any application rejections, we will file an appeal if feasible. This is a free service provided by Global Care Veterans Services. Learn more here.
